Electronic Data Standard Exchange
Established by Bombardier, Electronic Data Standard Exchange (EDSE) serves as a protocol for collecting and reporting of data that could be easily exchanged among airlines, suppliers/partners and Bombardier Aerospace. It provides you with quick access to a centralized database which can lower the costs associated with two well-known problems, technical interruptions and no fault found removals.
Electronic Data Standard Exchange Characteristics:
- Ensures a better FRACAS analysis;
- Limits the formats of data exchange;
- Minimizes the burden of details to operators;
- Reduces the time delay between an event occurrence and the returned analysis to airlines;
- Complies with regulatory requirements for maintenance programs.
Types of Data Collected and Exchanged:
- Aircraft, APU flight hours/cycles
- Delays/cancellations
- Component removals
- Pilot reports/maintenance reports
- Performed tasks
- Shop reports
- Line Replacement Units (LRU) repair costs and other maintenance costs
Most of our major suppliers are aware of the EDSE standard and are onboard through participation in the ATA Reliability Interest Group (RIG).
Setting New Standards with Industry
Since the mid ‘90s, Bombardier Aerospace has been working with other industry organizations such as the Airlines International Electronics Meeting (AIEM), Air Transport Association (ATA) and the European Regional Airlines (ERA) to set standards for data collection. Chapter 11 and 13 of SPEC2000 are today’s industry standards of reliability data collection, data exchange and reliability metrics. As one of the pioneers of the original task force, Bombardier continues to be an active member of the aerospace industry for further enhancing maintenance and operational data standards.
