Maintenance Data Analysis

The Maintenance Data Analysis (MDA) team utilizes specialized techniques and methodologies for reliability data analysis. The team collects data from the entire Bombardier fleet, strenuously analyzes it, and in turn produces the Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) report which is recognized as one of the most comprehensive reliability reports in the industry.

These reports essentially aim to provide airlines with the tools for achieving the highest aircraft reliability and dispatch availability. The FRACAS report is issued on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, and contains detailed reliability statistics and analysis for all aircraft types.


The MDA team currently offers the following services:

Initial Reliability Process Development - Operators will gain a better understanding of the data requirements as outlined in the Electronic Data Standard Exchange (EDSE) Service Letter, in addition to understanding the FRACAS report and how it can be applied to their operations.

Reliability Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting - An operator’s reliability data reporting system, including reliability reporting plans to their local authorities, is reviewed and recommendations are made. This service involves three modules that can also be provided on an ad-hoc basis:

• Reliability Data Collection and Processing - A specialist from the MDA team will assist the operator in setting up the correct data exchange system. Internal processes and software specifics will be reviewed with the operator and the specialist will help define the queries needed to successfully exchange the data with Bombardier.

• Reliability Data Quality Review - A specialist will review the operator's reliability data and assess its completeness and quality. An in depth review may be conducted to better understand the data capturing and processing procedure with the intent of providing recommendations for improvement.

• Development/Customization of Airline Reliability Report - A specialist will work with the operator to develop a customized report.

Fleet Performance Monitoring - Operators will receive a monthly reliability report specifically developed to monitor the key performance metrics of a fleet, including Dispatch Reliability (DR), Schedule Completion Rate (SCR), Dispatch Interruption (DI) drivers, cancellation drivers, utilization and top component removals.

Detailed Reliability Report - A more detailed version of the ‘Fleet Performance Monitoring’ report, it can be customized to include additional metrics, charts, tables such as Pireps/Mareps analysis, incidents analysis, Dispatch Availability (DA) analysis, etc.

Complete Reliability Reporting Package - Further to the ‘Detailed Reliability Report’ described above, operators will receive a complete insight into their fleet performance and reliability. A specialist will conduct an Aircraft Analysis, Rogue Part Analysis, Dispatch Reliability per station analysis and much more. This report is intended for the operator's reliability meetings, either internal or with their Regulatory Authority.

Ad-hoc Analysis - Operator’s can leverage MDA’s expertise and worldwide fleet knowledge to review data and understand a particular issue.
