Maintenance Program and Planning

The Maintenance Programs and Planning team is responsible for the design, development and optimization of maintenance programs for all Bombardier Commercial Aircraft in coordination with airlines and the regulatory authorities. The maintenance programs can be tailored to an airline's unique profile of route system, frequencies, and facility resources.

Operators, suppliers and Bombardier personnel have created the Industry Steering Committee (ISC) which meets on a yearly basis to review proceedings from various working groups and propose changes to the aircraft maintenance programs. The maintenance programs continue to be optimized to implement the vast experience gained in the field, reduce the direct maintenance cost and reflect the latest aircraft configurations. The various maintenance program development meetings and proceedings also offer an excellent opportunity for the maintenance engineering specialists to exchange ideas and share best practices.

Maintenance Programs and Planning offers the following services:

Initial Maintenance Plan Development - A specialist from the team will travel to an operator’s site and assist them with achieving optimum performance, availability and aircraft economics. The specialist will work closely with the airline to carefully tailor the maintenance plan to suit the airline’s environment, unique profile of route system, technical characteristics and facility resources with the main objective of maximizing aircraft up-time. The specialist will also assist the airline in setting up the maintenance plan, obtain approval from local regulatory authorities, plan and execute bridging checks as needed and continuously optimize the maintenance program throughout the entire lifecycle of the aircraft.

Low Utilization Maintenance Plan (LUMP) - This service allows an operator to put an aircraft serial number to a specific list of serial numbers maintained under Bombardier's LUMP program. Manuals MRMP-001,2,3 are also provided to the customer in an electronic format.

Low Utilization Maintenance Plan (LUMP) Repackaging - A specialist from the team will review an operator’s LUMP and will assist with repackaging these tasks into work packages that would suit their operational requirement. The work package plan will be provided to the customer in an electronic format.

Bridge Check - A specialist from the team will review the entire component and scheduled maintenance task records. This service involves the development of a bridging check program which lists the maintenance program the aircraft was maintained to last and the program it will be maintained to next.

Dash 8 Structure Deviation Inspection Requirement Document (SDIR) - Operators can order a replacement document with structural attachments.

Concession Support Letter (CSL) - A letter can be provided to support an application to an operator's airworthiness authority. The CSL is considered as acceptable data and is aircraft serial number specific with a limited time. CSLs can be issued on an AOG, urgent and routine basis.

Airworthiness Limitation Change Request (ACR) - An ACR can be provided to seek approval or recommendation when effecting a change to an airworthiness limitation. This is the means used to support an operator's request for temporary deviations to the life-limits of safe-life components or deviations to the mandatory inspections for damage tolerance components. A deviation to an airworthiness limitation is to be used on a one-off basis and generally is applicable to one aircraft tail number or to a single serialized component. ACRs can be issued on an urgent or routine basis.
